Have you ever seen something that as soon as it ended, you just knew that it was going to be the beginning to something amazing? That's how I felt when the first episode of
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun finished in front of me last night. I was dumbfounded at how much I was enjoying what looked like a simple high school romance in the making. The show isn't inventing anything new, rowdy high school kid gets suspended and falls in love with the girl that comes to drop off homework. After meeting said girl, he begins to show up to school. She at first tries to avoid him but over time she comes to have feelings for him due to some action(s) by the male. We have seen this used in other anime but how it got from step one to the ending of episode one was a pleasure to watch. The chemistry between Haru and Shizuku flows very well and their personalities are fun to watch clash and mend together. Haru's aloofness and Shizuku's serious-all-the-time attitude will hopefully bring some interesting scenes in future episodes. This is one anime that I cannot wait to see every week.
